Float Yr Face Music Festival

The Float Yr Face Music Festival was two nights of experimental music and sound design in St. Louis, Missouri. Created by Floating Laboratories (studio/gallery) founder Kevin Harris and Flood Yr Face (blog) creator Josh Levi, the Float Yr Face Music Festival focused on performers operating in the worlds of analog synthesis, broken electronics, ambient soundscapes, and improvisational dementia. Over the course of the weekend, performers and audiences alike were offered an opportunity to see over 17 local and national acts at the top of their respective disciplines. The festival featured an analog synthesis workshop from synthesizer / electronics expert Mike Murphy of St. Louis, MO.

The purpose of the Float Yr Face Music Festival was to transcend the boundaries of sound and experimentation through compelling performances of the highest quality and focus, simultaneously eradicating the notion of noise and experimental music as an empty gesture.

The festival took place on Friday, June 3rd and Saturday, June 4th at Floating Laboratories. Since its establishment in 2009 Floating Laboratories has been named Best Underground Club of 2010 by the Riverfront Times. Floating Laboratories has continually provided a fertile environment for local and national acts focusing on experimental music (drone, ambient, musique concrete, power electronics, etc.). Floating Laboratories is located at 4528 Ohio St. – St. Louis, MO 63111. For more information: www.floatinglaboratories.com
